A blog about my adventures around my weekend-ly adventures around Los Angeles, California.

Almost Done!

I have a little over a week left here in LA…I cant help but think that time has just flown by while I was here. Ive met new people, gotten to know an awesome new city, and did alot of great artwork! Its sad though…most of my new found friends are co-workers at Platinum. Right when I think I’m starting to fit in, I have to go back to school. Dont get me wrong, going back to SCAD for my senior year will be great, but I’m going to miss my LA buddies. Maybe I’ll come back out here for a job at some point, who knows? Anyways, even though its a little sad that I’m leaving, I cant wait to go home, relax, then start school back up.
Next up in my uber-armored line up is the Tauren Warrior in Tier 6 gear! This one goes out to Aaron.

Art time! This is me bored at work. I drew a 4 eyed T-rex and then digitally colored him. Im trying to learn how to digitally paint, and this was kind of a start.

All done in Diego

Well, the con is already over so quickly, but alot of really cool things happened when I was there! I got to meet a bunch of artists that went along on the Japan Trip with us Scaddies, like Kazu Kibushi and Phil Craven. They work on the comic collaboration “Flight”. I got them all to sign the newest release! Next, I met Rodolf Guiniden, a fantastic french artists who worked on Kung Fu Panda. I also met Marc Shultz, who works in a retro Sci-Fi syle that reminds me alot of Frank Frazetta. Last of the artists I met was Mike Mingola! Creator of Hellboy! All of these guys truly hold my respect.

Another cool thing that happened while I was eating lunch. I was sitting there, boredly thumbing through my Program for the con, when I stumble upon the art section. Every year, they hold a kind of contest with a theme and you can submit artwork. A good picture gets a half page, a great picture gets a whole page. Well, for one of my classes, my teacher wanted us to submit artwork under the “King Kong” theme. So our class did our projects, turned em in, and Ray said the only way we could know if we got in or not was to go to the con. Well, seeing as I was there, i checked it out. Lo and behold, there was Ray’s work, a half page picture at the beginning of the section! I thought that was pretty cool! So I flip through, and I stumble upon my own work!!! AND ITS A WHOLE PAGE!!! That made my day for sure!

I also got a great chance to see some celebrities on panel discussions, like Cartoon Voice Actors or Film Directors and so on. The highlight of that was Kevin Smith showing special footage of his new movie “Zack and Miri make a porno.” …yeah, it’s going to have an R rating, calm down people. But we got to see some of the bigĀ  name actors and it was hilarious! Good times.

Train Station, finally heading home!
